James Lahey appointed Director of the new Centre on Public Management and Policy

James LaheyWe are proud to welcome James Lahey as Visiting Research Professor and director of the new Centre on Public Management and Policy of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. M. Lahey will be taking on the management and supervision of the Certificate Program in Public Sector Leadership and Governance.

At the time of his retirement from the public service earlier this year, Jim was Deputy Secretary to the Cabinet (Public Service Renewal) at the Privy Council Office. Over the course of his career of 35 years in government, he served in several senior executive positions, including Associate Deputy Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs, Associate Secretary of the Treasury Board, and Associate Deputy Minister of Human Resources Development.

Jim’s appointment will contribute to the expansion of our activities in the fields of public management and professional development. The new Centre on Public Management and Policy, which will be formally launched in the fall, will assume responsibility for the Faculty’s professional development activities, including the Certificate Program in Public Sector Leadership and Governance. It will also conduct applied research on issues of public management and policy. While ensuring access to the full range of expertise available across the University, the Centre will be a privileged space for dialogue and learning for public service practitioners within the University.
