The Faculty of Social Sciences comprises nine departments, schools and institute, which offer undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in both English and French. Duties

  • Teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Supervise masters and Ph.D.students
  • Conduct research and publishing activities
  • Participate in academic and administrative activities
  • Other activities as specified in the collective agreement

Qualifications

  • Hold a Ph.D.(candidates who are close to completing a Ph.D. may be considered for certain positions)
  • Demonstrate excellence or the potential for excellence in teaching, research and team work
  • Possess a strong publication and research track record

Bilingualism

The University of Ottawa is a bilingual institution, and all professors in the Faculty of Social Sciences must be actively bilingual to gain tenure. Hiring level

Unless otherwise indicated, hiring is at the assistant professor level.

Hiring conditions and salary

These are set by the current collective agreement. Positions are subject to budget approval.
